Scott Bates - Partner

Joining Cornwell Jackson in 2001, Scott was admitted to the partnership four years later. Currently, he oversees audit services and serves as the firm’s partner in charge of recruiting, sales, marketing and retention efforts. In this role, Scott manages audit engagements, ensures exceptional client service and oversees approximately 10 team members.

Along with a focus on financial statement audits for middle-market companies, including SEC registrants and privately-owned businesses, Scott provides financial statement audits of benefit plans for companies ranging from 100 to 7,000 employees. His unique background has made him an expert in working with companies in the technology, service, transportation, construction, manufacturing, retail and distribution industries.

Scott began his career in 1992 as a staff accountant with The Williams Companies. Prior to joining Cornwell Jackson, Scott worked in the private sector as a corporate controller for ComSpace Corporation and has spent time with Ernst & Young, LLP as an audit manager and Deloitte & Touche, LLP as an audit senior.

Inspired by his parents’ success and passion for their careers, Scott is driven to make a difference. He enjoys building close relationships with his clients, bringing a high level of personal service and attention to every customer. Scott brings a true passion for learning to Cornwell Jackson and is motivated by the constant pursuit of knowledge and discipline necessary to be an effective accounting services provider.

Scott currently resides in McKinney, Texas, with his wife and two children. His interests include his family and faith. In his free time Scott enjoys golfing, reading and running.
